Puppy Agreement and Health Guarantee

Breeder:

1.  Will provide registration papers for the puppy from the AKC.  AKC registered puppies will come with litter registration papers that can be sent to the AKC for individual registration papers.  Some of our puppies may also be registered with the ABCA.  For an additional $10, puppies may be registered with the ABCA
2.  Will provide a medical record with the puppy’s vaccination and de-worming record.  Upon arrival, we recommend that Buyer schedule a visit for the puppy with his/her own veterinarian for regular checkups and to determine a vaccination and de-worming schedule.
3.  Guarantees the puppy to be in good health on the date of delivery.  The Buyer has the right to return the puppy to the Breeder within 5 days of delivery and receive a replacement puppy or a refund of the purchase price if it is determined the puppy is suffering from any disease.  Documentation by a licensed veterinarian is required.
4.  Guarantees the puppy to be free of any hereditary defects to the best of his/her knowledge.  Should the puppy be diagnosed with Canine Hip Displaysia (CHD) or Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA) before its first birthday, Breeder will provide a replacement puppy from a current or future litter.  Transportation expenses are the responsibility of the Buyer.   Breeder must be provided with documentation from a specialist in these fields: x-rays must be evaluated by OFA (Orthapedic Foundation for Animals); eyes must be examined by a Certified Animal Ophthalmologist.  No medical bills will be refunded.  Any other health concerns will be handled on an individual basis.
5.  Is not responsible for any veterinary bills, tests, medications, transportation, or any other costs relating to the puppy after it is delivered.

Buyer:

1.  Agrees that the puppy/dog shall not be given away, turned over to a rescue organization, shelter, or humane society without the written consent of the breeder. This puppy must never be used for medical, veterinary, or scientific research.  If Buyer is unable to keep the dog, Breeder asks Buyer to return the puppy/dog to Breeder.   The Breeder wishes all their puppies to have happy, healthy, forever homes and will take our puppies back for any reason. Returning the puppy will be at the expense of the buyer and there will be no refund of purchase price of the puppy.

2.  Agrees to provide appropriate care, feeding, housing, and veterinary care for the puppy.  We recommend pets/non-breeders should be spayed/neutered by 6 months of age.

Keeping your Puppy Healthy
We recommend that you schedule a check-up with your veterinarian to introduce your new puppy to him/her.  With the medical information we sent with your puppy, your veterinarian will recommend a vaccination and de-worming schedule that is right for your puppy.

Your puppy has been on a regular de-worming schedule that is outlined on the medical record sent with him/her.  Parasites are common in puppies, and we make every effort to keep puppies parasite free with a regular de-worming schedule.  We cannot guarantee that no parasites exist, however, and puppies can easily re-infect themselves.  As puppies grow to maturity, heartworms can become a problem, also.  A regular de-worming schedule recommended by your veterinarian will keep your puppy/dog happy and healthy.

When your puppy arrives, he/she will be current on puppy vaccinations which will be noted on the medical record provided with the puppy.  We generally give a CPV (canine parvo virus) vaccination at approximately 4 weeks old, a second CPV at approximately 6 weeks old, and a DA2PPv at approximately 8 weeks old. The DA2PPv vaccination helps protect your puppy against distemper, adenovirus type 2 (hepatitis), para-influenza, and the parvo virus.  Parvo is a highly contagious virus. The first vaccinations will begin to protect your puppy against parvo.  However, until your puppy has had its last puppy shot at approximately 16 weeks of age, your puppy is at risk for the parvo virus.  Therefore, we recommend that the puppy have limited exposure to public areas until that time.  We ask that you give the remaining puppy shots approximately every 3 to 4 weeks until 16 weeks of age or in accordance with your veterinarian’s recommendations.
